Although the Caribbean is probably best known for its stunning beaches and amazing scenery, its islands are awash with Culture. With over 7000 individual islands and at least 28 island nations, each with its own unique culture and history, it’s clear to see that the Caribbean has more to offer than white sands and crystal clear waters.

  • Festivals

    Festivals are constantly being held throught the year on most Caribbean islands, based on folklore, culture, religion and tradition. Caribbean celebrations are fun and an excellent way to learn more about native cultures. Carnival season may last for over a month prior to the festivities, and the dates vary from year to year.

  • Food

    Food is a very important aspect of many family traditions and Caribbean culture. Caribbean dishes are often comprised of indigenous European (French and Spanish), American, Chinese and African Influences. Well known and traditional Caribbean cuisine includes seasoned jerk chicken, rice and beans, barbecued ribs served with guava sauce, chicken kabobs and key lime pie. Seafood is also very popular in the Caribbean, each nation having unique seafood dishes, including shark, fish and lobster.

    The Caribbean islands are steeped in history dating back as far as 4000BC, with tales of Christopher Columbus, Pirates, slavery and wars involving many nations, which gives the Caribbean its diverse cultures and inhabitants.
